Has Online Poker Grown Quicker Than Online Bingo?

There is no doubt in anyone's mind that online poker has been the fastest growing online game in the modern times. But, why have other games not achieved this same level of success, specifically online bingo?

A lot of it has to do with the fundamentals of the game itself. For example, online poker is seen as a game of skill, deception and thinking. But, those same characteristics are not emphasized as much in online bingo. Sure, you need those same skills, but they are not as important to success.

Next, poker has received a lot of television coverage, which has brought this great game into the living rooms of people all over the world. When someone sees a player winning $1 million on TV, there natural reaction is to log on to the Internet, learn to play poker, and try to do the same. Since bingo has not really had much TV exposure so far, there hasn't been that kind of explosion in the game.

Finally, online poker has been seen as "cool". When people think of bingo online, the first thing they think of is an older woman playing the game, not young, good looking people. A lot of players will scoff at this remark, but subconsciously, they know that is one of the main reasons why online poker has become a lot more popular than online bingo, especially with the younger generation. Everyone is so tied up in image that they don't want to be known as the person who plays online bingo. But, that is changing as well, as more and more young people are starting to get involved in online bingo.

That is not to say, though, that online bingo sites have not been up to the challenge of trying to develop online bingo into a game one the scale that online poker has reached. For example, some top sites like 888bingo have been doing all they can to promote the game and demonstrate to people that it really is a great way to pass the time. They have cross-promoted with their online poker and other online casino facilities, and have developed a user experience that everyone should enjoy. Others have tried to follow suit, but have not achieved the same level of success that 888bingo has.

So, it has become quite clear that online poker has outgrown online bingo for a variety of reasons. However, as previously mentioned, online bingo is starting to experience an explosion, and nobody knows how big the game will be in a few years. It is starting to take the same path that online poker did a few years ago, and we all know how that ended up.
